The Putnam City School District adopted a rule that will give incoming freshmen the choice to enroll at any of the district's three high schools regardless of what junior high they attended.

For student-athletes, their eligibility would be established at whatever school they attend in their freshman year, but those who transfer within the district after establishing eligibility would still be subject to existing rules requiring a hardship or sitting out one year.

The implication of the rule change isn't likely to be strongly felt immediately, but ultimately, it will likely impact the averaged daily membership (ADM) of all three schools.
